What Do Upgrading Management Systems and Dieting Have in Common?  1:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 12th, Room F62 Time and time again I talk with leaders of companies who tell me that they have tried to “go lean” or put in place proactive measures to improve productivity, but their efforts were not sustainable. Thinking about dieting is a good way to visualize this issue. Say you lose 25 pounds by exercising for several months, but you still don’t change your eating habits. If you stop exercising, there is no “safety net” to sustain your results and eventually, you’ll gain all the weight back. But let’s say your motivation to get fit was spurred by a greater goal, such as a marathon. You would have to make changes to both your exercise and eating patterns to complete that goal. Creating a new plan tailored to running the marathon gives you a new purpose in maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle. The process for improving management systems in an organization is very similar- to spur growth, you have to constantly tailor your system to meet your goals. At the talk, you’ll hear about ways to make this happen. Looking to attract and retain the top talent? Up your Game. 1:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov 11th, Room F33 What do you need to do to ensure that your organization is a talent magnet, attracting the best of the best? First, you have to believe that people are your most valuable asset and a resource that drives your organization to peak performance. You must be dedicated to be the leader in your industry. As a leader, it is of utmost importance to stay in tune to the needs of your employees and what is important to them. Without growth, organizations struggle to add talented people. Without more talented people, managers have less time to work on innovation and growth. And without innovation and growth, organizations don’t have capital to invest in the future. Attend the talk to learn more about how your employees ARE your number one asset and pathway to growth. Are your frontline leaders ready to run your business? 8 am on Tuesday, Nov. 11th, Room F11 What’s standing between your business’ current state and the bold vision you hope to achieve? The key to bold growth is liberating leaders. The best predictor of future success can be attributed to the amount of time you, as a leader in your company, spends on growth. Think about your actions and daily activities as an executive in your company.  Do you enable and empower your frontline leaders to run the day-to-day activities of your business? Can they instill change and make decisions in order to do their job or do they need to check with you or their managers before making decisions, changing a process or putting out a fire? Can your team get work out the door without your help? When your frontline has questions or problems, do they have to come to you to find out what to do? As a leader in your business, you need to spend the majority of your time on improvement and growth for your business to stay relevant and be efficient. If you aren’t spending the majority of your time working on proactive improvements and identifying new opportunities, it’s imperative you uncover what is keeping you from doing what you need to do to succeed. Run, Improve, Grow is a proven business model that shows you how to empower your frontline leaders and outlines the steps you need to take to get out of the run and focused on bold, innovative growth.  To learn more, attend the talk and determine where you fall on the Run, Improve, Grow spectrum. Your results may surprise you.
