Tanis Inc, Releases Patent Pending Wheel Brush Adapter

In the countdown to FABTECH 2014, our What’s Up Wednesday posts have been the most popular feature of our blog.  We’ve been impressed by the number of exhibitors and speakers who wrote posts to reach show attendees.  In fact, we got so many in the last few weeks that we’ve added a Friday Feature this week to bring our readers the latest. This guest blog post comes from Tanis Inc.  Tanis recently released some new wheel brush adapters and they are excited to bring them to FABTECH next week.  Read the full post to learn more about the product and where you can see the Tanis team at the show. —————

Tanis Inc, Releases Patent Pending Wheel Brush Adapter

As part of the move to brush automation for the deburring process, Tanis, Inc. recently released patent pending wheel brush adapters and will show them at FABTECH this November.  The new product provides another reason to move from manual deburring to automated deburring, and is specifically designed for abrasive nylon wheel brushes, where the adapter not only provides a means of attachment, but also strengthens the core of the brush. Companies are increasingly moving their manual deburring operations into the machining center, taking efficiency to the next level and adding a bundle of other benefits.  But it’s still a relatively young trend, and the brush industry is developing tools to support automating brushes.  Up until now, wheel brushes, great tools for deburring crevices and contoured surfaces, have not had a good method of attachment to a shell mill holder. The problem is that wheel brushes are designed with filament set radially on a core, without a solid base for traditional adapter attachment, so it is susceptible to tearing and decreased brush life. How it worksWheel Brush Adapter Tanis’ new patent pending wheel brush adapter solves this issue by sandwiching the wheel brush between two plates that attach by screw.  The screw runs through the center of the brush and adapter into the threading of the shell mill holder to form a compression tool.  The design is easy to use and adds support to the wheel brush, creating a durable, long-lasting application. The Move to Automation The benefits of adapting the wheel brush to CNC machines and automating deburring in general are numerous.  Automating deburring streamlines processes – the deburring takes place on the same machine that cut the tools and eliminates relocation to the manual deburring area.  Automation also improves the quality and consistency of the deburring process creating a clean, seamless finish.  Operator safety risks associated with manual deburring are removed, which is always important. Wheel Brush Benefits A wheel brush – essential to the deburring process, performs tasks not suited to other brushes.   It can sweep through small crevices, removing burrs, while the flexible nylon filament hits hard-to-reach-areas.  The wheel brush’s flexibility is also excellent for edge radiusing because the filament can reach around angles.  It is also ideal for contoured surfaces; for example, the wheel brush is successful in finishing the curvature in turbine blades. About Tanis Tanis, Inc., is an industrial brush manufacturer, known for our vast selection of nylon brush products, resourceful custom-design capabilities and exceptional customer service.  Our industrial brushes can be custom designed to meet exact specifications – increasing performance and efficiency.  We offer brushes in wheel, disc, rotary, strip and tube brush designs.
