The Roles & Responsibility of Leadership in Guiding Your Company

No matter if you lead or work at a small company or a large, global enterprise, the need for effective leadership is key to an organization’s success.  While many large companies focus on developing and improving leadership behaviors and results, this is often overlooked in small or single-owner companies.  However, regardless of company size, the need to develop effective leaders is universal.  Have you thought about your own personal leadership?  Here are some things to consider:
  • What is your role as a leader and why is your leadership important to your company?
  • How are you balancing your leadership style vs. the results you are achieving?
  • Has your personal leadership style and performance ever been assessed?
  • Have you thought about why personal integrity is the most important leadership attribute?
My discussion on leadership on Wednesday, Nov. 16 during FABTECH Session F12: Lean Principle: Strategic Planning and Organizational Alignment will touch on all of the above questions.  And while there are countless ways to discuss what effective leadership is and how to achieve it, my talk will focus on the Five Steps of Leadership Development.  This includes:
  • Establishing and communicating a leadership vision
  • How to establish expectations and reinforce them
  • What are the required behaviors of a leader
  • Developing competencies and skills
  • Delivering results
My talk will also discuss how any company, regardless of size and its leaders, can and will benefit from focusing on improving leadership performance.  Attendees will understand:
  • The impact that both poor and effective leadership have on an organization
  • How to recognize where your organization is on its leadership journey
  • Learn about some of the basic traits / expectations and behaviors of great leadership
  • Why leaders must have integrity to be successful
