Renowned international cybersecurity and fraud-prevention expert Frank Abagnale — whose early life as a con man was the subject of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 movie, “Catch Me If You Can,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks — will present a two-part keynote starting at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, November 12.
The first part of Abagnale’s speech is appropriately titled, “Catch Me If You Can.” Abagnale will provide entertaining insight into his life as the notorious imposter of the 1960s. By age 21, he was known as America’s most gifted con man, successfully impersonating an airline pilot, pediatrician, stockbroker, college professor and assistant attorney general, all while cashing $2.5 million in forged checks. Audiences will experience an emotional roller coaster ride as motivational speaker Frank Abagnale describes his escapades and reveals how he learned to live on the right side of the law.
During part two, “The Art of the Steal”, Abagnale provides the latest information to protect institutions, associations and corporations from embezzlement, forgery, counterfeit currency, check fraud, identity theft and internet fraud. He describes white-collar crime techniques, liability concerns under the new Uniform Commercial Code, and demonstrates the latest document features and equipment. Abagnale combines his expertise with anecdotes from his time as one of the world’s most successful con men for a timely, insightful and informative presentation.
