FABTECH Attendees Express Eagerness to Return to In-Person Events

FABTECH 2019
87% of surveyed attendees said they are are extremely likely to return to in-person business-to-business events.

The fight against COVID-19 is ongoing, but as new cases in the U.S. appear to be trending downward, attendee sentiment and confidence in attending live events are trending upwards. A recent survey conducted online by Freeman Event Research revealed that FABTECH attendees have the highest positive sentiment for attending in-person events and their confidence index score is tied for highest among all events measured.

The survey sample comprised recent past FABTECH Chicago attendees and respondents included key decision makers with high-level job titles/functions (corporate, c-level, owner/president, manager, production/operations) from small to mid-size operations. While concern for safety remains high, attendees are starting to look forward and plans to attend in-person events have increased from previous surveys.

  • 87% of surveyed attendees are extremely likely to return to in-person B2B events
  • 74% see themselves attending in-person B2B events by Fall 2021
  • 79% expect any travel bans lifted by fall; Half already have no travel restrictions in place
  • 88% of surveyed attendees agree in-person events are irreplaceable

FABTECH attendees are ready to get back to in-person events and their most important priority is seeing the products and services showcased on the exhibit floor. Survey respondents indicate that virtual events have not met their needs with nine out of ten indicating they would attend an event in-person over a virtual event.

We have all missed the connections and collaboration that take place at FABTECH and look forward to the opportunity to safely reunite the industry in Chicago this September.
