Voting Matters for Manufacturers

As the 2016 presidential election approaches, U.S. manufacturing is a key issue getting some much needed press. Voting matters more than ever for those of us who work in, are retired from, or live in communities supported by the manufacturing industry at large. There are plenty of questions we can ask, as manufacturing voters. What do the 2016 candidates have to say about the import/export bank, knowing that it is up for re-authorization in 2019? How will they address environmental regulations? Do they understand the finer points of running a business in this industry? Of course there are many things that could, and likely will, impact our lives and livelihoods when a new commander in chief is elected. We hope our next president will enact the kinds of policies that will help to grow the future of manufacturing. One major factor to consider in the upcoming election is trade policy. We’ve been hearing about the Trans-Pacific Partnership for months now, and the opinions expressed range from supportive to downright militant. All of us may be impacted by this trade agreement if the United States enters into it, so we’d like to know what you think. Whether you’re an exhibitor or an attendee, do you believe that the TPP will help or hinder your business if passed? We’ve put together this very short 3 question survey, to get an idea of what actual people in the manufacturing industry think might happen. At the end of the survey you’ll find a link to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, where you can access the full text of the agreement as well as the official fact sheet.

Take the Poll

Thank you for being a manufacturing voter, and taking part in our survey! Look for the results on www.fabtechexpo.com next week to see how your manufacturing peers feel about the TPP.
